Masahiro Distillery, officially known as Masahiro Shuzo Co., Ltd., is one of Okinawa’s most storied and innovative spirits producers. Founded in 1883 by Shobun Higa, the distillery’s roots trace back to his father, Shozoku Higa, who served as the Master Chef for the royal court of the Ryukyu Kingdom Masahiro as one of the oldest and largest distilleries in the region.

Over the decades, Masahiro has been at the forefront of modernisation. In 1967, they introduced low temperature fermentation techniques to awamori production. By 2002, they became the first Okinawan distillery to obtain ISO 9001 certification, underscoring their commitment to quality.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Aromas of citrus, pineapple, banana and other tropical fruits, complemented by a mellow sweet vanilla ice cream scent.

Palate

Light bodied with delicate malt flavours, hints of ginger juice and white woody notes.

Finish

Short and mellow sweetness followed by a lingering spicy taste.
