PENFOLDS

Showing 1 - 2 of 2

Penfolds is perhaps one of the oldest and most respected Australian winemaker, producing some of the finest Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. The brand wa founded in 1844 by Dr Christopher and Mary Penfolds, when the family moved to the foothills of Adelaide and secured the Magill Estate. The Penfolds set about planting French grapevine that they had brought with them from England. At Magill they began to establish their own tonics, wines and brandies, and their own winemaking philosophies that has remained with us to this day.

If you're not familiar with the Penfolds range, try the popular Penfolds 2018 Grange Shiraz. It's an easy to drink, medium-bodied wine that will go well with meat or can be enjoyed on its own. Penfolds Bin 138 Shiraz Grenache Mataro is a wine that also drinks well now. But if you're looking for a gift or something special, try the 2019 Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz - a wine that was first introduced in 1960 by legendary winemaker Max Schubert, and that was recently released to commemorate it's 60th anniversary.
